Hi!
In my search for a pair of Monitor 7s I have found this wonderful forum! So I thought that I would ask the group if anyone has a sound (pun intended) pair of 7s they want to sell me for a fair price. Of course I am willing to pay for packing materials and postage. Thanks much!!!! Joe

    Welcome!

Since few people like to ship really good ones, where are you located?

Good point Dave! I live in Western NY State, just a few miles north of Niagara Falls NY. I besides possible crush damage, I never really thought about speakers being especially vunerable to shipping damage. My Monitor 5s arrived in great shape a few years ago. I am certainly willing to travel a few hours for a nice pair. Thanks!

I have a pair purchased new in 1981, serial #s 7B 30388 & 30389. One of the 6" drivers is immobile (physically unable to stroke.) They are good cosmetically. The speakers are in Monterey County CA. The stands are in Somerset County PA. You can have either or both if you will bear all packing and shipping costs. If you make prior arrangements with the shipper, I or a family member will deliver the items to the shipper for you.

In February, tech assistance at Polk told me that the bad driver is item MW6500, which is not available, but that a MW6503 is appropriate and available to club Polk members for $48 (I think) and would ship for free. I never asked if the MW6503 is sonically equivalent to the MW6500. If not, I suppose one would want to replace both big drivers. Incidentally, I think my speakers have the peerless tweeters, which are preferred. Also, they are covered in a pretty good looking faux wood, rosewood if I recall correctly. I loved these speakers for 26 years; I hope someone else can continue to enjoy them.

Incidentally, I replaced them with a pair of LSi7's and a DSW PRO 400, without an audition. I trusted Polk and was not disappointed.

    B_dick:
That is a very generous offer, and I appreciate it. I would be willing to take advantage of your offer. If you could give me your zip code in CA, I will try and contact a UPS Store in your area and arrange everything. I would like to compensate you something for your gas and time though.
Funny, I was just thinking last night that I might expand my search to include Monitor 10's as that was the first Polk speaker I had ever heard way back in 1982 and loved their sound. Besides, I love a project!! :)

If you ever get to Southern CT, I have a pair I'd part with, with stands, for $125. They"re a 8/10 cosmetically, 10/10 sonically.
