Original Polk DB10 Questions

Hey guys/girls I just aquired an orginal Polk DB10 4-ohm SVC. I'd say this thing is at least 10 years old. Anyone have a date when they were made? I have the original box for it too.
After searching the forums and internet, I've found the basic specs on this subwoofer.
I have a 2003 Evolution VIII with a custom fiberglass box with is roughly *1 cu.ft* sealed.
My question is, is 1 cu.ft. sealed too much room for this subwoofer? If so, what should I reduce it to?
Is there any type of foam (that can be removed) that I can use to reduce the size of the box?
