calman vs colorhcfr

I got my spydertv2 last week, My tv looks better compare with using DVE disc which I had a realy hard time to navigate the disc. Sydertv made this simple. Since sypdertv software only with basic calibration and i want to do the grayscale with colorhcfr (freeware) or Calman for $170. Any one know how much better compare between Calman vs ColorHCFR?

    I don't have experience with either, but I would start with freeware and work towards paying money. Why pay for something if you don't have to?

    Try HCFR first. Use the guide found here:

    That should give you a good grasp on what you're doing. I did it with a EyeOne Display LT on my Sanyo PLV-Z2000 and got amazing results.
    Equipment list:

    I'll save the calibration info for when I upgrade to a G90 :)

    Right now the Epson 1080 UB is strictly used for retro gaming - I could care less about the greyscale on PacMan ;)

    Interesting side note: On my old Sanyo PLV-Z3... I hooked up an Atari 2600 to it through a VCR just so I could play Yar's Revenge on a 92" screen. I even took pics of the screen with E.T. playing on it.
