Just ordered qty 8 of RD0194-1 tweets for my 20 yr old SDA and asked how much longer they will have them. I was told they only will have remaining stock on hand which was qty of 400 and then there will be no more. I have been on the fence for over a year since I had my crossovers rebuilt and this news made me order. Thought you'd like to know.

Wonder if there is a "new" replacement or if we are just S.O.L.?

I'm glad I've got a spare for my 1C. I guess the support for these 20+ year old speakers is destined to dry up at some point.

Maybe I better put the polyswitches back in my X-over:confused:
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

There is no current order to receive replacements. Kyle & Gil are checking on future orders.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I wondered when Directed Electronics (or whatever the conglomerate that bought Polk) might start pulling the plug on support for older Polks :(. Perhaps it's not their call but I'm sure it has something to do with it.

Mark, please keep us informed. A small panic is sure to ensue plus I want to get a couple back-ups if there will be no more for sure.

    Thanks

    Hello,
There are no plans to ever stop producing the RD-0194-A or the RD-0198-1. We keep track of the supply and when we see that it is at a certain level we place another order for more.
There'll be tweeters for the next generation of Polk owners, long after I'm rocking on the front porch at the "Old HiFi Guys" retirement home.
    Have fun, Ken

Well I still have my old tweeters and they all are working just fine and put away in a safe place. But I do like the look and sound of the New RD0194-1 not as bright. I just bought 8 myself.... Polk sent me and extra 1 for all of my troubles with fed ex delivering Them to the wrong address.

h9, i spoke to cs and tech today and they are staying with the "stock parts for 30 years rule" so i wouldnt be overly concerned about availability.

I haven't been worried about this issue since 2008.

Me too...I was about ready to call Polk and order four 194's, because I plan to get a pair of 1C's eventually. Good to hear there will be RD0's a-plenty for years to come.

I don't know about you guys but I have spares of all the currently available SDA/Monitor/RTA drivers 3-4 deep, which is not that many overall. It's not a bad idea to have at least one in case you get stuck in the dry spell between the orders they place.
