Subwoofer match question
Receiver is Pioneer VSX-53TX, Polk rtiA5 fronts, CSI5 center, and rtiA1 side/rear, 5.1 HT setup. Room is about 16x20. I've heard of the importance of matching speaker brands/lines, but does this apply to the sub? I may have a good deal on a Klipsch Synergy Sub-10? Would this be OK for my application? Sorry if this question is really basic, but I'm just getting back into home audio.

the subwoofer is pretty much the only speaker that you don't need to worry about matching to the rest of the speakers. The most important things to match are tweeters, followed by midrange speakers. Since you will likely only be having one subwoofer, there really isnt anything to match it to.
You'll probably notice that most people around here have mainly have polk speakers but with a different subwoofer (i.e. velodyne, Hsu, SVS, etc..)KEF Q150 | Rythmik F12 | Yamaha Aventage RX-A780 -

Thanks, that's what I expected. Any opinions on the size/power of the Klipsch sub for my application. The specs for it say:
FTC Rated Power: 200 watts continuous @ 1% THD, Dynamic Power: 420 watts.
My current sub is a 15 year old 50 Watt Subwoofer from Infinity. -
Klipsch subs are pretty good. Depending on how much are you going to be able to buy it for, you might be able to get a sub from a better subwoofer company for around the same money.
Could you let us know how much you're planning to buy the Klipsch sub for?KEF Q150 | Rythmik F12 | Yamaha Aventage RX-A780 -
