Hey guys, my first post here, been reading here for a long time now. I purchased the following lsi speakers from a friend that was closing down his stereo shop 2-2.5 years ago or so.

2 lsi9's
1 lsic
4 lsifx's
Sub is SVS PB12-Plus/2

I haven't read about people using the lsifx's all the way around for the surround speakers. Is there a reason for this? Would i benefit to switching a set out to some lsi9's or similar for the rear channels? 90% of the time the system will be used for movies/television. Right now the speakers are being powered by a denon 3808CI but in the process of adding additonal amplifier (300-400wpc). My room is rectangular, approx 14 feet wide and 30 feet long, the flooring is laminate.

I just bought the top of the line stuff from the getgo to avoid upgrading down the road, but i didn't really research on what would be better for the rears... Thanks for your suggestions.

They are the wrong speaker for Surroundback. Surroundback is a direct channel and shouldn't be defused like the Lsi/fx will do. It can work just run the surroundback in Bi pole. Run the surrounds in Dipole.

I owned a set of these, they were excellent speakers, could of used them as fronts when set to bi-pole, nice sounding, looks like you got a nice deal.

Conteplating going with 2 LSI15's upfront and moving the lsi9's to the rear. I will have enough power (adding additonal amplification) but wondering in my situation if i should or not. It will be my main living area and i watch 6 hours or so most days.

How far is your listening position from the back wall where the speakers are mounted? If against the wall, I would stay with the FX's. If 4' or more away, it may be worth giving direct radiating (LSi7's or 9's) a shot. You may even be able to find someone willing to trade for your FX's - just a thought.

I think the direct radiating may work better in your situation based on that distance. Well worth giving them a shot. If you get the opportunity to test them out, let us know what you think. Where are you located? Maybe a polkie has a pair they can bring over for a quick listening session.

I think you have chosen an excellent setup. I would stay with the LSiFx... I like diffuse surround-sound.

10 feet isn't that far back. I'd say go for it. Also, mount them at the same height as the side surrounds for consistent, seamless surround sound.

I run 6 of them in my theater room. 4 for side surrounds and 2 for surroundbacks.
