Has anyone here used a headhunter to help them find a job? I've had one contact me before and spent time(no cash) and almost came away with a good job. My job now has got me so frazzled, dumbass boss, two hour commute, etc. that I almost told him to take a hike today. BTW,job market here SUCKS!

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated!

Thanks, Dave

A headhunter helped me get a job once, although he was actually working for the "boss." He helped me along the whole process and it turned out to be a great job. Funny, all he did was put an ad in the paper that I responded to and the rest was history. The boss could of done the same thing and saved himself the money but he was probably too busy collecting McDonalds happy meal toys and looking for lost golf balls. (his two favorite pasttimes)

The guys with the job openings pay the headhunter. I also almost landed a job through
one about 10 years ago. It beats pounding the pavement for leads.

The true headhunters are retained and paid by the employer. If they want you to pay up front, I would move on.

There's a lot of new retail stores opening at 59 and Higgins/72 in the new retail development.

I've used them on the past. In every case the company that hired me paid the headhunter's fee.

The job I just got came through a recruiter. I applied for it online when I saw the listing and a recruiter handled the whole thing. Nice thing was, she got me the interview and all I had to do was tell her what I was looking for from them. Then I just had to interview and she did all the haggling.

Update your resume and post it on CareerBuilder or Monster or one of the other job sites and go from there. Find a job you think looks interesting and apply for it. Not gonna get the job or the phone call if people don't know you're looking.

Not much you can do, just wait and see.

You are going to go through a ton of rejections and no responses until you get one response. Then it will be like the flood gates opened.
