new polks
hi i am new to this site so i thought i would share my new purchase. I just got my new setup in the mail from amazon. I upgraded from an old low end polk system to the polk LSI15's, LSIC, and the PSW1000. Im still using my old polk bookshelves for my surrounds as im saving up for the LSIFX's. Not only do these speakers look amazing (they are beautiful) they sound amazing to. I am using a sony 3300es to power them and was worried i wouldnt have enough juice but with the receiver set to 4ohms the sound great and since they are only in a small room for now i have plenty of power. After i buy my surrounds i will save up for a seperate amp and connect it to my receiver

First Welcome to Club Polk. Sounds like you are off to a good start! At lower levels, and a smaller room the AVR will do. Separate amps should almost be considered mandatory for the LSI line.
Enjoy

ya the amp is the last item on my list due to the size of my room. As soon as i move into a larger room the amp will be the first thing on my list. Also i will consider upgrading my speaker wire, im using 12 guage wire from monoprice, but i am unsure of the advantages gained from high end wires. Dont want to waste my money

A real good cheap wire is AudioQuest type4's. These are very friendly cables that play well with most systems, and will not break the bank;)Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. those do look nice, but what aout surround speakers. i could imagine 2 50ft cable costing an arm and a leg

I would only use it on the fronts, and center. They do have a generic type 4 that is much cheaper, but I am 2 channel for my music;)

I rewired with 12 guage stranded copper from the local hardware store. Works great, and definitely made an obvious, audible, sonic improvement.
I also powered 4 LSi15s and an LSiC with a Sony AVR (first a 5000ES, and then a 7100ES) in a small room (11x10) with more than enough power and no problems. However, a seperate amp did make a positive improvement in overall sound, and especially with the bass. I rarely turn my PSW1000 on anymore since the LSi15s put out so much bass with the amp.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

ya im using 12 guage wire now. How much of an improvment did you see with a seperate amp. I do have my fronts bi amp'ed using the rear surround channels on my amp, ut i havent listened to them without the bi amp connection so i dont know if it is really making a difference. I love the psw100 it has so much umph, but then again i really love loud (not boomy) bass -

While it sounded great with the AVR, it is more open, and clearer with the amp (Sunfire TG5400 800W/ch x 5). The bass especially is tighter and more powerful. This is all subjective of course. So, while I was very happy with the AVR, I am even more happy now.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

just got everything hooked up perfectly including hanging my tv, and they look and sound amazing. I was so impressed that i just went ahead and ordered the lsifx to replace my rears.
