Hey folks. Just getting into home theater after having other fiancial priorities over the past 15 years. Been keeping up with TVs (main TV is 56" Samsung DLP right now), but my 15 year old Pioneer receiver and Infinity 5.1 speaker setup was due for an upgrade. So, I got a used Pioneer VSX-53TX Elite for a starter and now I'm shopping for some Polk speakers. I live in the Baltimore area and I'd love to get in on the local Polk demo program that I've seen on some threads. I got my first Polks last year when I bought Momo's for my bowrider boat. Great speakers! My head is spinning after trying to educate myself on 7.1, optical audio and HDMI, amp requirements for some higher end Polks, bi-amping, etc. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. Chris

REGARDS SNOWWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all -
Welcome Chris
You should be able to find some good deals in and around Bmore.

Thanks for the welcomes. Looks like I'm making a deal from a ClubPolk member for some refurbed rti A5's and A1's to start my family room setup. The room is about 18x20, so I figured the A5's would be plenty for the fronts and I might use the A1's for sides/rears if they work in the room. It's a start. Not sure if I really have the space/configuration for 7.1, might just stick with 5.1.
