I am selling my Onkyo PR-SC885P pre-amp. This unit is still in high demand, and hard to get. It's identical to the Integra DTC-9.8, except that it also has a "Pure Direct" mode that the Integra lacks.

It is in absolutely mint condition. Even the remote was only used once for initial setup of my Harmony. It has the latest firmware (1.08) and the DSP updates.

It will be shipped in Onkyo's factory double box, plus a third double wall box to insure it arrives in the same condition. It will include everything that originally came with the unit except the rack mount kit. I gave it to an Integra 9.8 owner, as I had no use for it.

$1250 shipped, anywhere in the lower 48 states. Payment must be made by US postal money order, cashiers check, or even a personal check, but any method must clear before shipping. Reasonable offers will also be considerd.

No, Marantz processing is severly limited. For example, it can't do audyssey and decode HBR at the same time. It also seems to have major HDMI compatability problems according to users at AVS. It also is lacking in the video upscaling department. And global crossover settings too. With the 885, you can choose different crossover points for each set of speakers. And no end user firmware updates.

Not sure what I am going to yet.

OK - REALLY DUMB QUESTION: what exactly is the role of a Pre-Amp. Can I assume it does everything a reciever does EXCEPT provide power?
    LR Setup:
    Polk RTi10's, RTi6's, CSiA6 (5 ch setup)
    Onkyo 705 & Denon 3808ci Receiver, Onk 875

    Yamaha DVD-C961 (5 disk SACD/DVD)
    SciAnt Explorer 8500HD Cable Box
    Orig & 5Gen iPods, , Wii

    Plans/Fantasies:
    • 400 disk player that handles ALL formats, sounds as good as NAD with Panasonic interface & compatability.

You would be correct all the pre-amp does is decode the audio than sends the now unamplified signal to a amp that than amplify's it.

Pretty much, but this unit does a little more than a lot of revievers. XM and Sirius compatable, RDS radio, HD radio, Reon video up-conversionn, Audyssey Multi-XT room correction (Audyssey Pro capable as well) etc.

I'm not sure of all the differences. Differences I know of are that it has HD radio, Reon video processor, 3 zones, balanced outputs, 3 12v triggers instead of 2, 4 HDMI inputs instead of 3, and 2 HDMI outputs. I'm sure there's more.

An excellent deal for this preamp. I have DTC-9.8 and really like the Reon upscaling on this preamp.
I don't know the situation now but people have been waiting for this preamp for months.
This preamp has a pure direct mode that DTC-9.8 does not have and i really miss that.
    Somebody jump on it.

Can't believe there are no offers yet. I have offers on another forum, but they are insisting on PayPal, or I ship first. That's not happening.

I'm just learning about the PayPal fees, as I've never had to recieve a payment. Accoding to PayPals Fees page, sending money either with a personal account or business is free.

Recieving as a personal account depends on how the payment is sent:
Receive payments funded by PayPal Balance, PayPal Instant Transfer or PayPal eCheck is FREE

Receive payments funded by Credit Card, Debit Card or Buyer Credit is 4.9% +$0.30 and there is a limit of 5 transactions per year.

So it appears that as long as the sender has a personal account and send money from thier bank account (not debit), then their won't be any PP fee.

    Am I interpreting that wrong?

Where is the $500 limit coming from? Is that Paypal or your bank? I didn't read that anywhere (yet)

There are no fees if they send from their bank account, but the reason most want to use PayPal, is so that they can use a credit card for payment. This way they can reverse the charges if there is a problem, or they can reverse the charges just to scam you. Yes, that does happen. And since the charge is from PayPal, not you personally, you are not even involved in the Visa dispute process. You wil be hosed.

Here is the limit you asked about:

I think PayPal is fine for sending money, but unless I know the person, I would never use it to receive money.
