Maximum Speaker Distance Outside

Hi all,

I am a newbie when it comes to this stuff so please bear with me. I need to do an outside event that is a single line dance containing about 300 people. I need to run speakers outside so that people can hear the song to dance to. The area I need to fill with sound is Approx 350 long in length. Its a big outside open field.

Right now all I have is an amp and 4 peavey Impulse 200's. My question is how do I determine how far I can put these 4 speakers daisy chained where I won't incur damage to anything.

My amp is a Yamaha P7000S and is rated at 1,100 watt output. Any help would be appreciated.

Lou

Hello and Welcome to Club Polk. First off, what are you planning on powering this with? Household power or a generator?

How long of a run do you have between the house and the speaker/gear setup?

Lou, I'm just wondering if there aren't any DJ web sites that might be of better help for questions like yours.

Sorry Guys... work was getting in the way.

My distance is about 50 feet from the power source to the amp.

    Thanks for all your help.

50ft isn't terrible, but you might end up with some resistance issue with a run of that size; and that is a big field...

This really isn't the right forum for pro audio applications- I'd suggest posting in The Basement at srforums.prosoundweb.com.

They'll also need to know- what program material and how loud? Is it Polka music that doesn't need to be loud, or are you doing a rave (very loud with LOTS OF BASS)?

Thank you all for your help. Btw... its a country song and doesn't have to be too loud, just loud enough for everyone to hear it.
