They were on Amazon and circuit city. I just bought one. Try Text alert on Amazon and check frequently. Toys R Us has package deal most of the time.

I spent more time looking for one than I have spent using it.

For adults, yeah, but it's good for kids. :) I'd break the thing just stepping on it.

It really is tons of fun. Great for kids, too, as someone pointed out. Sure, they may be inside playing a video game, but at least they are being physically active. Might even inspire them to do something outside.

And while I wouldn't recommend it for purely fitness reasons, it still will give you a pretty good workout if you're not in really good shape. At least, I certainly got to breathing hard during a few games.

But, to me, it's just a ton of fun!

As with most things wii, timing is everything. Showed up at costco just after they put a full pallet of wii fits on the floor for only $79 each.

The board is actually made for adults. All the training and fitness tracking is callibrated for adults and there is even a warning that certain measurements will be inaccurate for users under 20.

This is a balance board. All it does is measure weight adjustments as you shift around while moving your body. The running games use the wiimote and if you somehow leave the board by jumping off of it, games like the ski jump will end and warn you against actually jumping. If used correctly it is rated for over 300lbs.

However, like all wii games, the board does do good approximations of your actual movements, training you to do actions with more finesse by keeping your body better balanced while doing various activities. And while you may get a better workout in a gym if you're training hard for an actual sport, it works great at breaking a sweat for 30min to 1 hour a day workouts. And it has a trainer who talks you through some of the more complex things like yoga poses.

It divides training into four areas. Yoga, strength, aerobics, and balance games. There are actually quite a lot of different activities under the first two. Lots of yoga poses (wife seems to really like these) and things like push-ups, lunges, etc. under strength. The last two areas have some fun wii type games. There are standard things like runs through a digital landscape, and you can even bring along a friend. You can also do hula hoop (another wife favorite) and stepping routines. Then there are more wii like games like rolling a bubble around without popping it on course boundaries and trying to catch fish on an ice flow while dressed up in a giant penguin suit. The sports games are also fun with a winter theme like ski jump, skiing, and snowboarding where you rotate the balance board sideways to ride it like a board.

If you like wii sports, you will find a lot more to like here. And with all things wii, it's best done with a group of people. My wife and I like competing for high scores on different activities and children will like to both watch and participate as well. Highly recommended if you like things wii...:).

That's a good point. I wouldn't use the daily tests for anyone under 20 who might be sensitive about the results as the documentation clearly states that the results aren't accurate.

For adults who want to use the wii as a regular workout and progress tracking tool, you do have the option of keeping test information private so the whole family doesn't see it.

I tried this out a couple days ago. It was fun. I hope other people play it for the same reason and not for an actual workout. Hopefully this game will get a few people motivated to get their asses off the couch and workout.

Some of the mini games are fun, but you can do the workouts without using the board or paying $79.

There is a huge warning saying that BMI does not work well with those younger than 20.

We've got a Wii fit, but it's more of a novelty item than anything else. Was it worth the 100 dollars? (What I purchased it for). No, not in my opinion. I think that the novelty of the balance board is starting to wear off. Maybe they will come out with more games that utilize the board?

man, I didn't know this thing was gonna be such a huge hit here. A friend of my wife and I who was visiting from japan brought us one for 80 bucks just before it was released here. It's cool, but we didn't end up using it much after the initial novelty wore off... After that it was juts fun when other people came over. Now they have more games for it though, so maybe that will revive it.

I believe even Nintendo has said that the wii fit itself not really meant to make people lose weight- just get people more active who otherwise might not be, and get them thinking about/setting goals for losing weight using other means.
