As a swimmer in high school and college - it was the most amazing comback I have ever seen. 1/2 length behind with about 25yards left to go and goes on to win with no mistakes made on either side. (just more determination on the side of team USA)

The French team's claim that they were going to smash the Americans was closer to the French surrender pose. Congrats to the American men's relay team for a great gold medal event.

The french dude said to a newspaper reporter, "The Americans? We're going to smash the Americans. That's what we came here for." It was the same guy that got sucked up on leg 4...that's why you don't talk **** before any competition, regardless of what it is.

Everytime I watch that video I get into it even though I know the outcome. Simply AMAZING.

HOLY ****! I just heard Michael Phelps eats 10-12,000 calories a DAY! That's like 5 or 6 times the recommended allowance. Oy vey!

Looking at his daily schedule yesterday on TV I'd say he probably gets 5-6 times more exercise that normal each day too. If that were me I'd be burnt out already.

When I was swimming distance, I put myself on a 8,000 calorie a day diet and lost over 10lbs in a week. At the time I was swimming 3,000 yards in the morning and 6,000-8,000 in the evening 4 days per week. (with competition on most Fridays of 3,000 yards in the morning and about 1,500 in the evening.)

BTW - swimmers typically have the worst diets in the world because they can consume so many calories. (ok, maybe that is just swimmers in high school)
