Oh yeah. My recent acquisition of some vintage pieces has got me motivated to finally build my 70's mancave. I'm taking "before" and "after" photos, but this project will take about 6 weeks to complete. Here's some of what is gonna happen:

-Brick red paint on walls, purple trim
-Epoxy cemement paint on garage floor, with flecks (undecided on color)
-Bean bag chairs
-Futon (already have)
-Building some whacky 70's end tables
-Building a 70's "bar" still designing this
-Vintage stereo system, complete with brick rack; awesome milk crate spkr stands
-Posters--I have a bunch already--Zep, Aerosmith, Cream, Frampton, Pink Floyd, etc, etc. I also be doing some 70's movie posters--Jaws, Exorcist, Godfather--that kinda stuff
-lava lamps---YEAH baby got them already
-colored spinning light--got that too-Spencer's pulls through on that buy
-crazy **** color thro rugs EVERYWHERE
-the must have "cable reel" table--GOT IT, Just need sanding/polyeurathane
-cheesey 70's kitchen chairs to go around the cable reel table
- shelving around the ceiling for various 70's memorabilia

...and many more smaller ideas once I get all the furniture in place. Check this out, I was looking for a fake marijuana plant---GOOD NIGHT, $149 for a 3ft tall fake pot plant---I emailed them and asked if it was real pot??

Stay tuned...I've got some questions too

OK...question: Who has used cement epoxy paint on their garage/basement and can point me to a good solid brand name? Any tips are also greatly appreciated...

I used Rustoleum from Lowes. It was quite easy, durable and looks great. I can post some pics later from home if you like.

Yeah, I used the Rustoleum deal too. It was a cinch, looks good and is very durable. Stands up to the 6 pound sledge test well.

I've also used an epoxy based one from Griot's Garage. It was at a buddy's house. It was expensive stuff but that stuff looks great and NOTHING sticks to it.

There was also a kit from Eastwood I think it was and that is very similar to the Griot's Garage stuff and cheaper.

But honestly, for ease of use and access, I'd go with the Rustoleum. I was very impressed with that and everything you need to put it down can be found at Lowes.

If I'm ever in your area, I'd love to stop by to listen to some tunes in your 70's mancave and maybe get stone to the bejesus.

Nice sounding project (that's a pun).

We use an epoxy type floor covering in commercial enviroment. That stuff looks great and the flecks of colors are available in many combonations. Tough stuff too.

I've seen a lot of 70's style rooms on HGTV which they remodeled. Might be a good place to pick up some tips. Gotta have a big yellow smiley face wall hanging fabric of some sort. Maybe an avacado color beer refrigerator.

Those avocado green fridges' are the best ones... My father still uses one that he bought at a garage sale back in the 70's for $50. Still running strong, makes a great basement fridge.

Egg chairs and couch!!! It's a must have for a good 70's room. They can get rather expensive, but I'll be picking a set up........someday.

I don't want it to look too nice. You gotta think teenage kid, working with what he can find in the basement---that's a 70's room--I know, I was there. LOL It's gotta look real.

Damn. One of these days I'd like to at least know someone who had a set. I think you can find them cheaper elsewhere, but the impression I got was that inmod made the "best".

All I can think of is the wife in A Clockwork Orange reading in one of those. Very 70's, but I hear the price constraint too.

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I think I may do the partial-way up paneling on the stereo wall---hmmm....

I'll need to put some dart-board holes in it though...LOL

Just ordered my pot leaf ashtrays, incense burner, and few more posters from Spencer.

    Muhahahahaha.......

Ok guy's, don't get too excited---it's simply a garage conversion kind of thing, no major over-haul or anything. I think it will speak to the 70's.

FWIW, Target is another EXCELLENT source for 70's retro stuff.

    You're describing my first apartment.

One idea....Lose the futon and get yourself an honest to goodness beanbag couch. The ones made out of stained 4x4's and crushed velvet branbags.
