Any good albums by Styx?

Generally, I'm not a big fan of late 70s/early 80s rock, but when I was re-watching the pilot episode of Freak and Geeks (set at a high school in Michigan in 1980) on DVD tonight, I noticed that there were two pretty decent songs by Styx: "Renegade" and "Come Sail Away" (I had to look at the music credits). I'd never heard these before and am not familiar with their work, but these two were definately catchy. Any good albums by this band?

"Come sail away" is from The Grand Illusion and "Renagade" is from Pieces of Eight these are likely their 2 best albums but I also like Equinox and Crystal Ball.Testing

I think Paradise Theater was their most popular in terms of sales, and I loved Grand Illusion. Equinox has Suite Madame Blue which always sounds awesome on a good rig.
Styx has a myriad of greatest hits albums if you are just looking to check em out. The best is the one from 1995 that includes Lady 95. If you become a Tommy Shaw fan, you might also check out some of the Damn Yankees stuff from the 90's as well.My Main Gear

I've always liked Cornerstone, even though it wasn't as highly regarded as some of the others.
They're one of my favorite bands, that somehow has fallen majorly out of favor. My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself. -
First four LP's Styx, Styx II, Man of Miracles, and Serpent is Rising on the old Wooden Nickel label are among some of my favorites.
Thanks for bringing this up I need to pull these albums out again. -
Paradise Theater, Pieces of Eight, and The Grand Illusion are exceptional compilations. Their is also a two disc set which covers most of their hits.[

Another collection I must get -- great band in their day -- I remember the tour for the grand illusion --- piano raising up from under the stage -- tommy shaw great guitar player

IMO Paradise Theater is good, but not quite on the level of the above. The first 2 are "must haves."Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
The sound quality of most of the styx lp's as well as CD's I have are noticeably superior in sound quality to most other 70's/80's rock music.

vinyl is the only way to go for 70s/80s and early-mid 90s.I have bought some CDs and those so called remastered CDs and the sound quality sucks.Vinyl just blows them away.Late 90s to now is another story.SDA-2BTL with custom IC
