Great bloody amp that I bought about 2 months ago but now the Marsh will take its place. It was purchased from a fellow Polkie and is in very good shape. I can email pics upon request.

$200 shipped CONUS.

Thanks, Dave

Will this amp sound ok with my RTI8's? I have heard that Adcom is a bit on the bright side. I am still very interested.

It will sound fine... If you're wanting something not as bright, try different speakers.

the Adcom will be less bright with your RTi8s than just about any receiver, if that's what you're using. I find underpowered speakers sound tinny. Same speakers with proper amplification sound clear / detailed in most cases. The RTi's will never be laid back, but they can be detailed instead of bright with a good power amp.

My main concern with this 545 will be its description as "bloody." I can see an item being "dusty," but bloody just makes me skeptical of the nature of the seller.

Thanks for the replies. I am currently running the RTI8's with a Denon AVR 3806. I want a little more power for two channel listening. The RTI's are a tad bright, and I was hoping to tame them with a little more power.
Andy, I have requested pics of the amp. I am very particular about the condition of electronics, so I will be sure the "bloody" description doesn't translate into beaten. Thanks again!

Dave is a great guy and takes care of his gear. He's brought many peices to our local audio gettogethers. I'm sure the "bloody" comment only mean it was GREAT in a british sort of way.... not actually bloody.... Insert the work Wicked, or Freakin in its place if you don't like bloody, but don't hesitate to buy from Dave.

Thanks for the props, dude! Yeah, I was feelin' good when I typed that night. It was bloody, freakin' cool man.:D No sauce tonight though.

I've had the 545 hooked to my 8's and it definitely calms down the brightness and really brings them to a new level. Definitely a good mix.

For the gentleman (leroyjr1) interested in buying this from Dave you asked what the differences are between the 545 and 545 II.

    Slightly larger heat sinks
    Slightly larger Toroidal transformer
The series II amps are capacitor coupled rather than direct coupled. This is an huge debate as to what is better. Facts are a capacitor coupled amp adds another component in the signal path which *does* color the sound. Fact- capacitors have a finite life span and get weak and need to be replaced and can affect sound in an older amp (not for the good).

The series II amps use a more complicated Darlington output set for extreme low impedance stability 2 ohms and less.

I, myself prefer the simpler more straight forward original series. The gain stages are simpler and they are direct coupled which I feel gives a truer sound.

Now just buy the damn thing :D;):) and we are about 1 hr or so form DT Milwaukee.

Yep, I'll always have an Adcom, but for now my search is on for a Pass Labs piece I can afford and comes from solid seller. Not looking to spend more than $900 shipped on an Aleph 30; $1500 shipped for an Aleph J or $1650 shipped for an X150.

The Marsh is probably 3rd on my list after Monarchy SM 70's but then I'd have to build an AI-1 cable, so those aren't plug-n-play.

Congrats on the sale. I have a 535 powering my Atriums for over two years already. The thought of upgrading has never crossed my mind.

    Sold to Inson71.

I just met James, great guy!!! Teacher from a neighboring town who seems to have some great taste in audio gear. I believe he will really enjoy the amp. I was trying to talk him into hanging around here but he said you all are a bunch of nutcases.:D

Seriously though it went to a good home and I hope he enjoys it as much as I did. James, please don't grade my grammar or spelling or anything like that.;)

    Dave,
It's hooked up, and I have been listening to it for about an hour. Wow! It makes music sound...well...musical. Oh, and don't worry about the grammar; I am off duty for another week until school starts! Thanks for the great amp. I will be waiting to hear about those cables.

The 545, 5400, 535, and 5300 are way under appreciated. Too many people get hung up on watts. My 5400 drove some 2ohm DIY speakers that I had way better than anyone could have imagined.
