I bought an item online, called the merchant for delayed shipping. They said thats fine, at this time my bank account already showed the pending transaction and deducted the money from my account. After I got off the phone with the merchant, I check back and see they canceled my order. So, I call back, they said they know and they are replacing the order and making a note. No biggie right? Well I check my online bank statement, and they billed me again! So now I have 2 pending transactions. Well heres the curve ball, the second pending transaction took me below my balance!

I know I need to call someone, I plan on calling the merchant (UBid) in the morning, they were real helpful the first time around. However, my questions are, if you can help me, will I have to pay any overdrawn fees? (never had this happen before) Also, since that first item was canceled, will that 1st pending transaction go away or will I still be billed? If the 2nd order clears while the first one is still pending, and I am below my balance, will the bank correct this problem in time or will I have a mess getting my item?

As you can see this is a screwy situation!! Any help, opinions, and advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I had this happen a few years ago when ordering my projector (though not with Ubid). The order didn't go through right the first time because the address on the card didn't match with the shipping, so I changed it and re-submitted the order. Both of the them showed up ($1199 twice) as pending and dropped me below $0. I immediately called the store and asked if one of them would drop off. They told me it would and that it wouldn't be charged. One of the charges went through and the other just stayed "pending" for a few days and then dropped off. I talked with the bank and they said that as long as the charge stays pending and never processes, the over-limit fee won't apply because you never actually over the limit.

    So you should be fine.

Yes I had that happen once. I had went to put a $500.00 deposit on some audio item years ago and the fellow ran my card then said well its not working right let me go downstairs and try there, well 10 mins or so later he comes back with my card and a receipt for me to sign so I do and go away a happy camper.

A few days later I go to purchase something and my card is denied, im certain that something is wrong because I know that I have money in this account. So off to the bank I go and I tell the teller that for some reason my card got denied but im sure theres money in the account, well she checks and says sorry sir but for the moment you are overdrawn, so I ask her how is that possible and she explains to me that a few days ago that there was 14 or so $500.00 charges against this account so im overdrawn by a few thousand dollars. Well I just about crap my pants when I heard this and thought no way and asked her where the charges were from, well she explains that they were from this audio store and it all made sense, after he couldndt get my card to go through he went to another machine and he must of swiped it till it took.

Long story short it took about a week or so but all was okay, the other charges were dropped and I had no overdraft fees but I had to pull money from my savings to use the card in the interim.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Wow. Must have been scary! Since UBid canceled my first order, that pending charge will disappear and never complete itself, correct?

    Yes you should be fine.:)

If you have any concerns you can call your bank and explain what happened and they will tell you it will simply poof. Its only a hold they put on the money for a few days.
