Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

And I nightmare to build, but I would totally use it if I had the chance.

I got a Nixie clock. Just gotta put it together. Kit cost me about $275 but it's real cool and is certainly a conversation starter.
Nixie tubes were originally intended for digital readouts for things like artillery targeting systems and such where the controls were still analog but they needed a way to represent numbers without high accuracy (and very expensive) dial indicators.
The clock design itself is very simple. The complex part comes in controlling the Nixie tubes.
They are getting harder and more expensive to source out the tubes though so if you want one, better get one quick. I bought mine 2 years ago and I had trouble getting what I needed. I can only imagine it's worse now.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Over built not really when you consider it has no Integrated Circuits IC's. But sad too say I don't believe it would work here in Good USA has it seems to run off 50hz and then multiplies it up to 100hz where all clocks here use 60hz as the timing source.
