PSW111 Speaker level hookup?

I have read that Polk recommends a speaker level connection when using satellites and a sub. I don't exactly know why. But my question is:
I want to use a pair of RM7, or perhaps RM101 with my PSW111 sub. If I hook it up through the speaker input & outputs, will the sub high pass the signal to the satellites? I would imagine it would have to, or they would not recommend this method, however, I do know that some subs do not have a high pass output.
Secondly, would not the high pass output on the sub need to be variable, so if I set the crossover to 120 hz, the sub high passes 120hz and above to the satellites? Thanks

Alright. I just read this article about double filtering. This might explain why they prefer this method. http://www.polkaudio.com/downloads/newspaper/issue11.pdf

The PSW111 sub does not high pass the satellites.-Eric
