Just an FYI.

BestBuy has the Insignia bookshelves on sale this week. They have been on sale for $39 in the past (long ago). However, at $59/pair these are still a good pickup

    Thanks for the heads up.

There's a few web sites out there dedicated to crossover and cabinet mods for these.

I really liked the Insignias at $39. At $59, they're still a great deal and I would still choose them over most of the budget hi-fi offerings out there up to $300, but there are some surprising values in sub-$100 bookshelves these days (Athena LS100s for $99 from Audio Advisor, Infinity Primus 152 and 162 for ~ $70-90 from Harman on eBay) that best both the Insignias and almost everything in and above their price range.

For sheer fun and engagement, the Insignias are a real treat. I plan to throw a set outside in a quasi-weatherproof area and see how long they hold up.
    Currently listening to:

    Marantz SR5004
    Sony BDP-S370
    Apple TV V2
    Audio Technica AT-LP120
    Mirage CMD-5 x 5
    Bic H-100

Go listen to some real speakers than get back to us. I have heard them my friend bought a pair I had to walk out of the room when he started cranking them up. I am not saying they are a bad speaker it's just that there are better ones out there.
