    Its big ,old and powerful,but not the last word in refinement.Due to its age it will likely need an overhaul if it hasn't already been done,(new filter caps ,coupling caps etc.)But if the price is right(cheap) it might be worth getting.

    I have a 200, I cant kill it. I did an overhaul on it about 2 years ago. I really cant complain about the sound quality either. I think its a good all-around amp. The 500 is the same design (to my knowlege) w/ more horsepower. Hafler has always been excellent build quality. And unloading it if you decide not to keep it, should be very easy.

    Yeah the Mosfet's used in the output stage certainly don't hurt their reliability.

    I've got a 200 as well and it's a tank. But a really nice warm sounding tank. I got it at a garage sale for $50.00 believe it or not. Best $50.00 I ever spent on audio. Coupled with my Carver C-1 pre-amp it sounds great.
