I've got my iPod connected to my work laptop with the USB cable, but I can't pull up any of the music on my iPod........

I don't want to sync with this laptop (because it has nothing on it and I don't want to wipe out everything) but I can't find a way through itunes or windows explorer to find my music to play it...........any ideas other than hooking up an audio cable from the computer to the headphone jack?

Ok, I tried that and apparently Apple codes the file names some random 4 letter code that has nothing to do with the actual file name..........so I'm playing the songs now off the iPod via Winamp, but occasionally those 4 letter codes show up as the 'song'..........whatever.....at least it's playing

Get a 3rd party app to explore and drag/drop with the Ipod and Windows. You can do it without, but it's kind of a pain. If you're using anything but an Ipod touch, I recommend www.redchairsoftware.com. Check out Anapod Explorer on their site. Very easy to use and works well.
