I went and saw back to back concerts at the end of last week out here in Dallas. I saw the Crue fest on Thursday, and the Mayhem fest on Friday. Motley Crue was excellent, and Papa Roach was worth remembering a bit more than Buck Cherry. The fans were rocking to "Last Resort" by Papa Roach big time. Crue closed the show with a terrific version of "Home Sweet Home" which left us all nostalgic as they left. They played mostly classic songs including "Live Wire" with a couple off of the new album.

The highlight of the two shows was Disturbed. We were shocked when Disturbed came out while we were off getting a beer, because we thought they were headlining. We rushed back no problem and really got our head banging on. The lead singer did a tribute to our troops and the crowd started chanting "U.S.A; U.S.A.." which was awesome. The only negative is they didn't play a bit longer. Only about 10 or 11 songs I guess. The two nights of partying closed out with Slipknot. I must admit I am not a big Slipknot fan, but it was a sight to behold. They played a couple of unreleased songs from the upcoming album which seemed to be less scream metal and more traditional metal (if that makes any sense). Wow those masks are something else and about 15 people on stage. Anyway, I enjoyed them as well and can recommend both concerts. Just skip the Dragon band at the Mayhem concert, they sucked. :D
