SDA interconnect cable - what gives?

I want to build a new SDA pin/blade interconnect cable. What is curious is that there is conflicting information. Polk customer support says that blade has no connection and the blade opening really only serves as a placeholder (nonfunctional). I have seen several older postings on the subject where it is suggested that there is an electrical connection. I have a copy of the schematic and it suggests that there is a grounding connection from the blades. However, on analysis of the circuitry in the schematic it is also clear the negative wires back to the amplifier, assuming you have a common ground, establish the ground connection. To add further confusion, I have an original cable and there are two wires in the cable but when I test it for continuity there is definitely no connection to the blade terminals. So, what gives? Does anyone really know if there should be a connection to the blades?

On the Pin-Blade IC, the connection is only made between the pins. The blade is just a "place holder". I can't speak to your old SDA IC, but you only need the single connection.

The blade side is connected internally to the (-) binding post. It is not used when you are using a normal pin/blade interconnect. The only time the blade comes into play is if you are using an AI-1 cable for non-common ground amps. For normal interconnect use, a single conductor is all you need. I've replaced my pin/blade connectors with a single binding post on the back of the speaker, and then just use speaker cable for the interconnect.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I've been using 10 ga. romex for years with the ends flattened a bit to make a nice snug fit. It's a perfect match if you're using romex for your speaker wire.

Pacemagnum, since you are new to the forum, let me offer some valuable advice. Ignore everything candyliquor35 says...Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

So is your idiocy.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance. -
I made my custom Pin-Blade by soldering on a pin that I found to be the right diameter, and cutting a flat, male quick connect until it fit into the blade slop. I attached them to speaker cable, so they are loose instead of a single plug, but it works very well. I didn't really want to modify the speaker cup, so I went this route, and with no regrets.

So, let's get the record straight in that case.
You didn't know the difference between a cap and a resistor until you were told by others here.
You, at first, proclaimed that adding a 2.2uF cap to your tweeters was the second coming of JC, but have now decided that some other value is better. And even that is subject to change on any given day.
You, at one time, disconnected some of the tweeters in your feeble attempt to find a solution to the inherent flaws of the SL2000.
You didn't and I suspect, still don't know how or what it means to add caps in parallel. The proof of that is clearly posted on AK.
You have been caught, more than once, in outright lies and on more than one forum.
It has been proven that by adding your caps, it throws the crossover points off and in one case resulted in a 29 dB drop out!
Now, this one still takes the cake. You proclaim in your sig, "I can make a sl2000 sound just like a rd0194 with a $1.25 .33 uf/mfd 250 v cap." Yet, you have stated, more than once, that you don't like how the RD0194-1 tweeters sound. HELLO!!!
As for you having a nice day. I think most would find that stewing in your own sweat and BO on a 100 degree day in Houston because you won't run the AC would result in anything but having a nice day. :rolleyes:Political Correctness'.........defined

So
Say whatever you want. The games you are playing to antagonize and bait me into a argument are futile. I'm sitting here listening to the glorious music coming out of my polks and nothing is going to disrupt that.
Have a nice night. I know I am -

I'm not playing a game, I'm dead serious. You need to understand that.
Everything I said in this thread and every other thread or post of yours that I have responded to has been nothing but the indisputable truth. You need to understand that too.Political Correctness'.........defined

I'm
No comment. Everyone can see the games that you are playing, especially the mods. You can sugarcoat it anyway you want. It's still an attempt to antagonize and belittle me.

He's playing games????
Carl, I'll have you know something. I called Polk customer service yesterday, to ask a rather technical question about your favorite topic - tweeters. You know what I was told? Ask Jesse. Yup, that's right, Polk points people's technical questions to the same person you're accusing of playing games because he's calling you to the carpet over the fact that you are a moron, and you infect every thread you possibly can with your misinformation and utter lunacy.
And when new people come to this forum asking for advice, you repeatedly start spewing your nonsense, supported only by the statement that you have tested it. Who the hell are you??? I'll tell you who you are, you're an idiot who thinks that if you annoy enough people by disagreeing with published documentation, research papers, expert (and I mean real experts) opinions, that someone out there will follow your advice and create an electrical modification to a circuit that you, with zero knowledge of electrical engineering, have convinced yourself is some sort of brilliant discovery that you've happened upon.
Go play in traffic, Carl. Really, really fast traffic.
And my apologies to the original poster for yet another thread being ruined because of good ole' Carl.
Mods.... Please, oh please, ban him....Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance. -
He's
No comment. I'm giving the same advice as sal. So tell me again that you guys aren't playing games by attempting to antagonize and bait me into arguments with you.

Candy, this is a great pic, I haven't seen it, I'd like to use it in the future:

Well Jesse is Bad and Nationwide, hell he's International. Oh yea, he is also CP President.

Thanks for the help everyone and thanks to nspindel, your explaination confirms what i suspected after reviewing the schmatic. Also as soon as i read ROMEX from candyliquor35m i new something was "off" there.

Hah! You'll do just fine here, Pace!
FYI, I'm in the middle of doing the same single-binding post mod to my new SDA 1C's right now.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.
