Anyone in Chicago area willing to demo their Fxi's?

Hey guys,

I'm in the Chicago area this week for work and was wondering if anyone happens to live around here that has a pair of Fxis they would be willing to let me come over and check out some night this week? I've been on the fence about getting a pair for about a year now and just am not sure if I will like how they sound (and am not willing to pay $200-$300 just to find out without first listening!).

I would basically just want to stop by some night whenever it works best for you to give them a listen (I won't stay long so don't worry about devoting an entire evening to me) - you could demo whatever you want, I just want to hear what a bi/dipole speaker sounds like as compared to a direct radiating speaker.

If anyone is willing to let me do this, just post here or shoot me a PM and I'd greatly appreciate it. If it works out, maybe I could bring over some beer or something for your time.

Let me know, guys - thanks!

By the way, just in case it was not clear, "demoing" your speakers does not mean that I'm trying to buy them from you. If I do like them and you're interested in selling them, then that's a different story, but don't feel like I'm going to try to take your speakers from you ;)

However, my only intention is to simply hear how a bi/dipole speaker sounds and there doesn't seem to be many Polkies in the Iowa/Minnesota area (where I'm from) who have them.

    Thanks again...

I've got FXi30's, which are the old series, and will be home this weekend. I'd be willing to let you check them out, though I still need to connect them to my pre/pro and calibrate it. I live on the near north side in Lincoln Park.

I'm staying in downtown Chicago at the Hard Rock Hotel, but I could take a taxi or a train or something to your place. I'm not very familiar with the area - how long do you think it would take to get to your place from here?

I'm north of downtown Minneapolis about 5 miles, just inside Columbia Heights. I'll get in contact with you when I'm back in town, which should be next Monday. Will you be around next week during the evening some night?

I'd love to stop by if it works out. I'm planning on attending Lollapalooza (at least from later in the afternoon onwards each day), but I could probably do sometime in the mornings either Fri, Sat, or Sun. What day/time would work best for you?

I'm busy all day Friday, including Lolla that night, but am pretty open the rest of the weekend. I will be going to a Cubs game on either Saturday or Sunday. Sunday would probably work best, but I won't know for sure for a few more days. Around 10AM would most likely be best. I just moved into my new place a couple of months ago and haven't had a chance to hook up the surrounds yet, though it won't take long to get them up and running.

Well, I appreciate the offers, but unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts nothing was able to be set up after all. I was out of internet access all weekend so I was unable to set anything up with wodom, and on top of that I didn't realize how exhausting Lollapalooza was going to be! I left about 9:30 every morning and didn't get home until midnight, but man what a show!

krabby, I'd like to set something up with you for this week, if possible. Check your PM for details.

    Thanks again, everybody!
