Back 25 yrs ago I met the pitching coach for the St Louis Cardinals, a nice man named Hub Kittle and he gave me an autographed baseball signed by the entire team.

I thought I had lost it.. only to find it this weekend when doing some deep cleaning around the barn that I live in. :p

anyway... anyone here know about such things? I don't think it's from 1982 when the Cards won the world series.. it was either from 81' or 83'. I can clearly make out Whitey Herzog's name though.. the ball is in mint condition.

if anyone is a collector of baseball's, please give me an idea of value or where I should take it for an appraisal.

thanks baseball fans.

ummm. thanks. but it's not a baseball card, it's the baseball itself. :)

Hub Kittle was one heck of a pitching coach, and well-liked and respected in baseball.
I don't know how much your autographed ball would go for, but be sure to always point out it was given to you by Kittle. If you have a picture of him giving you the ball, that'd be even better.

He passed away a couple of weeks ago.

Looks like around $50.00 for a non world series ball. $180.00 or so for a 1982 signed ball.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

    MRBBL,

I was a cheeky kid of 19 when Hub Kittle gave me the ball.. I didn't know he just passed away recently.. so I do not have a picture of me with him or of him signing it.

$50 is cool. the whole team + coaches signed it.. maybe there is a Herzog or Kittle fan out there. :)
