Since danger boy turned me onto this cool board, and I turned him into a NASCAR wacko, (expect odd behaviour and clothing at the next fest) I promised him some pics and will share with a video link of Tony going off on some officials last night, looks like the ol' Smoke from long back..:p:D

That race sucked. They couldn't get going. So many competition cautions. Goodyear needs to get it straight. Like Tony said, this is why Goodyear isn't in F1, Cart, IRL or most open wheel competiton. They can't handle it.

I know the COT is a different animal but 12 laps before they blow up is ridiculous.

The problem with the COT is the center of gravity. It is way higher on this car than the previous cars. They run the right sides out way fast, especially at a place like indy were there isn't much banking.

Indy is one of my favorite races too. That race wasn't worth watching.

One of the WORST contests I've ever seen in Nascar. Think maybe they should try Hoosier again or Firestone.

Totally agree. I can't imagine another manufacturer not being interested in the job.

I would love to see Hoosier, Bridgestone, Firestone, heck Michelin or Pirelli would work for me.

I can honestly say I have never been a Goodyear fan. They have never worked as well on my cars as Michelin or Bridgestone.

For whatever reason Nascar is locked into Goodyear, probably contractual. They did test Hoosier years ago but that went away after Dale Bonnetts crash testing them at Daytona. I used Hoosier tires on both dirt and asphalt racecars with good success. Depending on the track, we could choose the hardness. The softer the tire the better the bite but you sacraficed endurance.

why didn't they switch to the Pocono tires then after the first 10 laps?

They said the Pocono tires were a softer compound. It probably would have made it worse.

That practice session ( I cant get the word race out ) was an abortion from the get go....sad part is they knew it was going to happen and let it go anyways.
They knew the track wasnt rubbering up whatsoever the day before, with the rubber showing up as a grit/powder on the outside of the track.

Funny how they didnt interview Smoke, who ALREADY has voiced that Goodyears are **** tires. At least I could turn the channel....the fans at the track who paid big money are the real losers from this mess.
