8,000 cubic feet of air space (not including any ajoining rooms that may not be able to be closed off - we need to know about those also) is a HUGE space.
You will get decent bass for 1k, but you may have to spend a little more to actually pressurize that much air. Not saying it won't be well worth the upgrade or money spent, but it will be difficult to pull off with that budget unless DIY is a possibility. Also WAF is probably out the window as small subs able to do the job will be expensive and you will need lots of them.
An IB (Infinite Baffle) setup may work for you depending on the room and what it connects to....Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

The Velo SPL line sounds fantastic, but I'm not sure if it'll fill that room."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

That may be the best crutchfield can do for you from what they sell, but I would not consider either of those choices for that room. (8,000ft3 not including 3 connecting rooms and a hallway controlled by a 10" sub - give me a break)
I think eD (linked to above) or Epik (castle or tower) will be your best bets in a new sub - preferrably a pair of them.
I have about 12-13k ft3 and with 2-12"subs still wish I had more. (larger subs or a smaller room IS in my future though.)
Good luck with your search.

So the neighbor is back so we are on the back porch talking about stuff and i bring up i did some sub looking. He explains that his wife dosent like "normal bass" it to loud she says. But he did say well why dont you ask the guys that you asked about the sub. What would they recommend for the same room speaker wise. So lets hear some suggestions. O and if you are wondering what receiver it is a Onkyo TSXR805. With all zones being used.HT setup

I thought this was the neighboor that had klipsch speakers. (if not, sorry - may be mistaking threads here)
If so - maybe that is more the direction he should look. If large speakers do not scare him away and he is willing to give Polk a try - I would say SDA 1.2's or 2.3's.Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

Does he want a 2 channel setup or HT? What's his budget look like?
If he goes with the LSi's, I would highly recommend an amp to power them. If he doesn't want to spend that much, the RTi line is very reasonably priced and doesn't need as much power as the LSi line.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):
