One Day in San Francisco

I"m spending today in San Francisco being a tourist - anyone from the area or who has visited have any recommendations for things to see?
I"ve got the obvious - Alcatraz (if I can find tickets for the ferry, which look to be sold out), the bridges, Golden Gate park. Beyond that the day is open.

If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Check out Lombard st. I walked up it, when I was there. Also, there's some park there with a viewing tower. Have fun.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm kinda bummed about the Alcatraz thing, but I'm sure I'll be back some day, my sister lives here.If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Bob, it is a long shot but perhaps worth a try: stop by at the Hilton (O'Farrell st.) Marriott (Mission St and fourth), and/or W (Howard and 3rd.) and see the Concierge desk there. Sometime they have direct connection with Alcatraz boat operator and might be able to squeeze you in. Worth the $20 tip.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Ahhh....'em good old days
Bobman,
Back to SF....take the cable car from Fisherman's Wharf, you'd see Lombard Street and the Cable Car Museum. It's also only a couple of blocks from Chinatown. Once you are in Chinatown, if you walk thought the Stockton Street tunnel, you'll be in Union Square. From there, you are a couple of blocks from the San Francisco Shopping Center (with its curved escalators) or the Sony Metreon (is it still owned by Sony?).
There's a lot more to be seen once you get away from central SF. Go check out City Hall or the Asian Arts Museum (across the street from City Hall), Japantown, go across the Golden Gate Bridge and take a photo from the Marin Headlands (second exit once you cross the bridge from SF), the Legion of Honors, Ocean Beach, Sausalito (15 minutes once you cross Golden Gate Bridge), Golden Gate Park, the Presideo (and LucasFilms), etc. You should go take a pic of yourself in front of the headquarters to Dolby Labs and Monster Cable.
I see that, from your blog, that you have already visited In 'n Out Burger. -
Go eat here. The best meal I've ever experienced. Right across the street from the Trans-America building.

Ahhh Yesterday was the day for a tourist. Clear skies and great temperature. Today is a bit overcast and foggy. Not sure if it will clear.
Anyway, you can always try the museums too. Museum of Modern Art and the Asian Museum are definitely worth the price of admission. Both easily accessible from the cable car. California St. Car and get off at Kearney. South to Third St.
If you would have been a tourist yesterday, I would have told you about Audio Visions. Great place to drop into and look around. They were pretty patient with me as I spent a couple hours there. Audio Symphony, was nice also.
If you hankering for good food, great price and excellent service drop into the Grubsteak. I stay at the Holiday Inn nearby because of this restaurant.
Enjoy your tourist day.
Scott
PS There are links for Audio Visions, Audio Symphony and Grubstake. I guess with the new forum upgrade they aren't underlined anymore.Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid. ..... Frank Zappa
