It is my honor and pleasure to introduce our newest member, Dipole Dan. I have sold many of Dan's audio equipment as he was preparing himself for retirement. Esavinon, Dave Muell and others own some of Dan's equipment. Dan retired after 38 years at Westinghouse as a nuclear engineer. I believe his PhD is from Virginia in Mechanical engineering. The following is a quote from Dan that I copied from the "Polkfest" pages:
"Greetings! I am a new member and a good friend of Carl (schwarcw). I have moved from Pittsburgh to Annapolis, and am looking forward to attending Polk Fest this year. Please (someone) sign me up!!!
Dipole Dan
PS - I got my name (thanks to Carl) due to the fact I had (and loved) for many years the Carver Amazing Platinum Mark IV speakers. I unfortunately had to get rid of them for my move to Annapolis since my A/V room is much smaller. I'm now
looking for a suitable replacement. I was using two pairs of the Maggie MCM1's mounted on the walls for side and back speakers (a remarkable match), which I kept. I don't have room for Dipoles up front any more (my Platinums needed 3-1/2 feet from the front wall and 4 feet from the side walls.) I am thinking of the Definitive Tech Mythos STS speakers, or some of the new Polk in-walls. I hope I'll be able to hear the in-walls at the Fest. My MCM1's may not be a good match for any of these. Any advice is welcome.
Please welcome Dan into the Polk family! When Dan retired and moved to Annapolis, I lost my best listening pal. We spend many a long evening listening to some fine tunes drinking wine and eating moldy cheese. I miss Dan immensely and I look forward to see him at Polkfest.
PS. A little know fact about Dan is that his sister is a Hollywood executive who's movie production credits include the Freddie Krueger series "Nightmare on Elmstreet". Don't hold that against Dan. Even though I think Dan's sister modeled Freddie's looks and violent behavior after her brother. (JK)
Three cheers for Dan!
