Boards came in yesterday. The UPS guy stuck them behind a down spout:confused: It rained. I am glad the boards were sealed in plastic. Today I should have about 700 1% resistors, a dozen or so OpAmps, and a fistful of little caps. I am making three of these. An ugly one for me to experiment with, and a nice one to do a swap program so Polkies with a good rep can try it out. What I want most with this is I want feedback to let me know how it works with different systems(or if it sucks:eek:). A couple guys have already volunteered:cool: One thing this brainiac forgot on the board was mounting holes:o All the time I spent working on circuit design, research, and layout I forgot to put four stinken hole in the damn thing:confused: I am starting to thing maybe sleep might do some good. I don't know. Just a thought.

I am going to kill. I spent almost 3 hours prepping my order for DigiKey. I went all the way through. I entered every single part. Definitely over 700 pieces. I choose how to ship. Everything. They gave me an order number. They said they were going to email my total. Everything was done. Not only has it not shipped, but they can't even pull up the order. I complained saying that nearly everywhere else If I even start an order it is saved in my cart. Her answer was they just changed systems. Sorry. I am so pissed that I could smash something. Their are so many items to reorder it isn't funny. Anyone who has ordered many pieces from here know how much of a pain it is. I think I am going to wipe my A$$ with their catalog when it gets here. I really wanted to be able to have some burnin time on the Pre/XO/phone/tube buffer before PFGA.

All I can say is WOW. I got it fixed with DigiKey. They found the order, and its processed, and packed already. The guy(or gal) that got my order must have been a little irritated when they saw how many different pieces they had to dig up:eek:

Very Cool Ben, Put me on the list to test out your stuff!

Will do. I am very excited. I am going to put power to it this evening. All the pieces are highly recommended by the DIY community. Most of my research is reading reviews on caps, resistors, PS's, OpAmps.....
You think cable debates are bad. Try going through same cap, but different voltage.... It'll make your head spin.

Yep His help in the ADOTC thread has inspired me to get my ears on tube Pre's. I need to modify it some. The gain is to high for this app. It doesn't play well with variable resistance so the tube part will take some time. I am hoping the rest is right first shot.

Will do Chuck. I have been playing this thing non stop since 6am or so. It's starting to come into bloom. At first I was disappointed, but there are some nice caps in the signal path that need some time. The PS sucks. I didn't have the money to use a toroid, but I should have one on the way. The remote is real flimsy, but I programed my one for all. I may implement a switchable sub sonic filter(rumble filter) for when I am cranking it. With my big speakers I am getting feedback in the platter, tonearm or what ever. Also I am building a separate PS with an earth ground. Tying the phono ground into the ground in the PS doesn't cut it for the gain this has compared to the Outlaw. Also I am going to increase the gain in the Pre. It goes almost high enough, but the dial is at near full, and I am going to be driving my GFA-585, and 565's with the same circuit. I did however install a pot(volume control) on the highs to match the high pass to the low pass. My gainclone amp that I built for the highs is a lot more sensitive than the big Adcom's. The gainclone reaches full out with around 1v, and the Adcom's need a little more than 2v each. I need to get some 6pdt switches to implement the passive Pre section, and the tube section. Right now it is full SS.

Well I moved the PS to an external box. Actually I just built another one. This time I snubbed it properly, and chose to do the regulation inside the Pre. There is 4000uf unregulated, and 440uf regulated. The rectification is in the PS box, and also an earth ground is located there for the phono Pre. Now everything is dead quiet:)

The case is an old JVC tuner that I gutted. I picked up some 2x36x.125 aluminum flat stock so I could setup decent jacks on the rear, and clean up the face plate.
