Should I sell my SDA 1A's?

They've been sitting for a while now. Oak veneer, reclothed brown to match. I've always hated black grill cloth on brown speakers. I also put on gold Vampire binding posts, bypassed the fuses and rewired the cabinet with Kimber 4TC via WBT silver solder. Nice improvement, a lot of labor. I overpayed when I got them on eBay in 1999. $500. Also when I went to pick them up <the guy was cool, he lived in a Geo-dome house>there were 10A fuses in them and the dimensional tweeters were blown. The seller helped finance four new tweeters. Madisound no longer had the Peerless and Polk wanted $60 each before club discount. I tried several tweeters and settled on an Audax that is a tad brighter and a perfect fit. What do you think I could get for them? I think the place to get the most is fleabay, to many cheapskates here <like me> to get the most for them. Thoughts and opinions welcome. Please be gentle.......I have feelings you know! <LOL>

I would sell them if you don't want to listen to them anymore (that's the reason I do anyway :)).

Even though you have many mods into them that can be seen as a positive, the fact that the tweeters aren't original or a Polk replacement will hurt your sale, even if they sound good. Your best bet would probably be to sell to someone locally who can come listen to them and you can convince them that the non-Polk tweeters aren't a detriment. If the buyer doesn't mind the different tweeter, you might be able to get a few hundred dollars for them, but $500 is pushing your luck.

Hi, where is 100mi. W. of DC ? Did you do any mods to the crossovers or the panel where the tweeters mount? If the price is right, I might come and see them.( I live in Fred. County MD) Can you post any pictures ??Thanks, gdb

Right off Rt 50 just across the WV line about 25 miles west of Winchester,Va. Now that I have 1.2TL's I don't use the 1A's anymore. They are too big for the computer room which has mint Monitor 5's powered by an NAD amp from the PC sound card. I will dig them out soon and take pictures. Oak veneer is really nice. The tweeters are a nice unmodded fit. No crossover mods were done. I have the interconnect too of course. I don't want to lose money since besides what I <over>paid I invested another $300<got the Kimber 4TC wholesale> and a lot of labor. I understand if that's too much for a bargain hunter. I'm not that motivated to sell them but it seems a shame to just have them sitting unused. If it got to the point where someone wanted to see them I would hook them up to my rig for anyone to do a good listening session. Thanks everyone for your tips and advice.

I don't know what you mean by live monitors but I spin records and CD's at a club sometimes. I use the 2A's

You use your 2As as speakers for a club? How small is this club?

Or do you mean you record a set using them and then play them at the club?
