Power supplies are often overlooked and they are really one of the most important parts of a system. Somebody gets a power supply that will operate at full capacity or with a noisy output can cause a lot of computer problems such as random reboots, lockups, etc. PC Power supplies need headroom too. I would venture to guess that a lot of lockup issues that can't be attributed to an actual cause-are quite possibly related to power supply issues.
Only audio analogy I can think of right now is how important the amp stage of a system is--underpowering your speakers can cause clipping and speaker damage-not to mention the lack of imagaing, resolution--blah blah, etc..
