I Have Been Motivated by a Bad Movie...

And the movie was the new Indiana Jones flick. My wife and I paid 18.00 to see 'another bad sequel'. We chose to see this over Batman because of the nostalgia of the first 2 movies, which were were great. This movie was just an excuse for Spielberg to re-release the first movies and make even more money. Harrison Ford looked old and tired, the plot was contrived and predictable, and the supposed great Lucasfilm sound was terrible. Why is it that the "surround sound" in most movie theaters sucks, and why is the volume always turned way to high for anyone to enjoy?

I am almost glad the Movie Theaters are doing poorly...they put out terrible movies, the sound is awful, and they charge way too-much for you to sit there and be annoyed for 90 minutes. Like any other business, take care of the customer first....

With all that said, why was I motivated by this bad movie? I was pushed over the edge to go out and spend some money to purchase the HT system I have been researching for awhile. I guess this is the only good outcome of another poor movie theater experience.

Is it just me people???

Lots of people on here would rather wait & watch a movie on there home theater rather than go to the movies. I would say I have a pretty nice home theater but when I go to the movies having flawless sound isnt a huge deal. Although I did watch the new Hulk movie a few weeks ago & one of the surround speakers had a blown driver which kept buzzing, quite annoying. To get better sound than a good theater though you are probably going to spend $2000+ on a home theater. I myself dont see the big deal about what theaters charge now days, but I still use my student id even though I graduated about 4 years ago:) I this day & age where gas is over $4 a gallon which I will use up in 30 mins of driving & people buy large starbucks for $5 that they will finish in 15 mins, I dont mind spending $8 for 2 1/2 hours of The dark knight, & as for the concession foods it doesnt bother me since people shouldnt be eating that junk anyways.

I don't know that bad movie theater experiences motivated me to build an HT for myself, but I will say I haven't been to a movie theater more than 3 times in the last 5 years because of the bad experiences.

There is a new theater here locally that serves dinner, drinks, and doesn't allow anyone under 21 in. I might check that out sometime.

Other than that, I prefer watching movies at home in my underwear if I feel like it. Beats getting your chair kicked all night and listening to a bunch of teenagers yack in the middle of a movie.

No you are not alone. The only time I go to a theater is when I'm in DC visiting my brother. He makes it a point to take me to a couple of movies. In June I saw 2.

I don't go when I'm home, I'd rather wait for the dvd release.

The Dark Knight at the IMAX owns any home theater. It's definitely worth the price of admission.

I can understand preferring to watch blu rays over going to the theater. Especially if you have a nice HT. But doesn't beat the IMAX in my opinion. The Dark Knight does have atleast 30 minutes worth of IMAX film during the better scenes.
