It seems like all the mainstream audio manufacturers keep their most interesting 2 channel stereo gear outside of the US. We have seem some trickle in, like those from Pioneer, Onkyo, and Denon. However, I just found the below Sherwood Newcastle stereo receiver and CD player on their Singapore website....

Singapore? And not the US? What gives?

Edit: E-mailed the marketing director of Sherwood USA and received reply...."We have no current plans to offer these in the US."

Looks like some good high end stuff. Can't believe how the Asian market get so much more high end toys than North America. JBL, Tannoy and many others have speakers only sold overseas.

Sherwood's name here is mud here from all the garage they put out over the last 10 years or so.

The market for affordable, high quality two-channel audio may just be too small in North America. Seems HT has taken over the mass market, unfortunately.

It seems that Sherwood has produced some very respectable pieces in both its regular and upscaled Newcastle line. I owned the Sherwood RD-4109 stereo receiver (which was only $70.00 brand-new on Black Friday last year from Radio Shack) and it has performed admirably.

I would imagine the market for 2 channel stereo components in North America, in sheer numbers, would be greater than the whole of Singapore's population. Must be some other reason.
