We have to stop meeting like this

About 15 minutes minutes ago, on my way to work, I was rearended by a giant GMC Yukon while I am stopped at a red light. My poor new car :( The strange part of this is that I was rearended by a motorcycle, in my mom's Toyota Highlander, about 3 weeks ago and that insurance claim is still open. So with this new accident, I'll have 2 open claim and both of them involve me getting rearended. That makes a total at least 5 times of me being at the wheel and getting rearended at a red light or stop/yield sign (one of them requiring ambulance for my mom).

Can people drive nowadays?

Do you stop at yellow lights?

Do your cars have any particularly inflammatory bumper stickers?

Here in San Francisco, with all the bicylists and pedestrians that don't obey traffic laws, one would have to look twice before entering an intersection....even with a green light. Not to mention all the traffic camera that will give you a $300.00+ traffic ticket for running a red light.

It's a new car, so no bumper sticker.

Maybe they forgot to connect the brake lights when they built it?

That sucks. I know you live in San Fran but is it a hilly area?

I know around here in NJ people just don't pay attention. To busy with the phone either talking ot texting. Hope the insurance company doesn't act weird about these two accidents. They also like to tailgate something awful. I love to see someone behind me in a huge SUV 10ft from my bumper at 65mph. That sound like a good safety cushion to you???

Both my car and the GMC Yukon were stopped at a red light at a busy intersection in downtown San Francisco. There were other cars around us. This lady thinks that she had the green light, when it was still red, and rammed her giant SUV into my backend. My car was at the very front, so she was lucky no one was acrossing the crosswalk directly in front of my car.

This happened in the flat area, near City Hall, where all the homeless people hang out.

That sucks. (I was only joking about the tail lights, btw)

I'm going to be in San Fran this coming weekend, but won't be driving around the city at all (will stick with walking and public transportation. Now I'm glad I made that decision.

Danny's insurance company shouldn't even be involved, unless there was an uninsured motorist involved.

It's illegal for anyone in California, as of July 1st, to be conversing and holding a cell phone at the same time while driving. You'd have to use a hands-free headset, either wired or wireless.

I think NY is also on the list.

Did the person ever tell you anything, or did they just wait for the police to get there?

How much damage to the car???

Illegal in NY also. Many people still do it though.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't ask earlier, but are you ok?

The lady just told me "Oh, I'm sorry". Yeah, thanks a lot. My car's rear bumper has this big black mark in the middle, along with a couple of dents. Her GMC Yukon also has a dented front bumper. Hmmm, I haven't check my taillights yet....given her SUV is so much taller than my Civic.

I think I am OK, but I am feeling some soreness in my shoulders. I'll see what happens. Thank you for your concern.

My Ranger was built in 1987 therefore no 3rd eye brake light requirement so it doesn't have one. It's been rear-ended 12 times because people said "I didn't know you were stopped! Your brake lights aren't working!" Then the cop gets there, asks me to press the pedal and looks at the other person and says "Looks like they work fine to me!" Glad I have a heavy towing bumper on the rear, minimizes my damage.

Because they "enjoy" being higher than other people and studies show that they think they are safer in a big suv. Just jerk.

Looks like the damage is more extensive than anticipated. I noticed now I'd need to slam the trunk shut in order for it to stay shut. The trunk liner, which covers the spare tire, is now scraping against the plastic along the bottom of the trunk. The top of the rear bumper was also scraped up by the taller front end of the GMC Yukon. Obviously, the entire rear bumper needs to be replace, both the exterior and interior pieces. I wonder what else needs to be replaced. I am getting an estimate from the local Honda dealer today.

jgido, where are you in P-Burg? I live in Pittstown just outside of Clinton. I know the stretch of 78 you are talking about. They all drive like morons.

Danny, Sorry to here the damage is worse than you thought. At least they had insurance.

jstas, that happend to me in my GMC. The cop said the same thing when I pressed the brake. "Looks like they work to me" People just don't pay attention. To busy with the phones in there hand.
