LSi9
hello, i just joined the site, i have been lurking for a while, and wanted to see if i could get some advice. i have been looking at polk speakers and and think i want the lsi9 bookshelf speakers, can anyone tell me anything about the LSi9 speakers? the reviews i have seen look impressive, i know they cost a bit but i guess you get what you pay for. i dont mind paying for quality, i would be powering them from a sunfire TG2 through a carver AV806x 6 ch amp. can someone tell me how they sound? and could i do better for the price with one of the other current series? i really think i want to go polk. thanks.

LSi's are Polks current top of the line speaker. The sound would best be described as warm and laid back.
I find them an excellent speaker, but really would have to suggest you get out to listen to some before you make your final purchase. (if nothing else, at least purchase used so you can resell them for a minimal loss (if any) should you decide their sound is not for you.

+1. I own 7's and 15's and love them both. Looks like powering them will not be an issue for you.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
thanks for the welcome, im really liking what i hear about polks, the guys over at the carver forums say that they are fine speakers and i value thier advice, its good to be a polkie. i also have a carver tfm35 2 ch amp that i could use for power, im thinking of replacing my bose 701s with 4 lsi9, i mostly listen to 2 ch music, maybe get some floorstanders later on when i get a bigger place.

It's completly personal. I think the LSi9's are just fantastic. At this price, they do 'nothing wrong', I mean, they don't do anything that gets on your nerves. They just sound warm, and clear. They have some sweetness you might love or hate. My advise: you must enjoy the sound of your speakers. My HT - JVC DLA-HD2K - Rotel rsx-1065 - Polkaudio LSi9, LSiFx, LSiC - REL Storm III

Carver amps and LSi9's are a match made in heaven. You won't be disappointed. Amazing sound for a small speaker.

I second the Carver suggestion, as well as Parasound mate well with them.

Another positive vote. As for the price, they are an absolute bargain for what you are getting, especially on the used market. Auditioning a pair would be the way to go but if that's not possible just grab them, you can always return new or sell back used for little or no loss.Mains - Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand

These speakers can sound very dynamic if you properly power them (I'm thinking krell KAV amps). Anything less and they become warmer. Without an external amp, they don't sound so good on dynamic music (heavy metal and rap). They are always pretty distortion free and clean though.Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15

Please do, I'm betting you'll be blown way. I couldn't believe the bass response from such a small driver, and you'll behard pressed to find cleaner mid - treble response in a speaker costing five times as much.

I've owned the LSi9 (plus LsiC and 2 LSiFX) for a few years now. If your provide sufficient power to them...they will blow your mind with clear delicious sound. I primnarily listen to Jazz, New Age, and Classical (all SACD). Also, for home theater with excellent soundtracks (Lord of the Rings, Kingdom of heaven, etc) you will be equally impressed.
Enjoy!

This might be true, but a good speaker should reproduce all music, and movie soundtracks, equally well. I know that I have not been disappointed with the LSi15s in regard to either music (rock, classical) or movies.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

my new lsi9 is a great speaker!the vifa ring rediatot is just fantastic.the bass of the lsi9 is so good and punchy.i dont use my sub at all, with the lsi9 you dont need a sub!
my polk rti6 hook to a NAD c372. my rti a7 hook to hk3480 and my new lsi9 hook to my new rotel ra1070 and it is a really great match.
five star to the polk lsi9!
for general information:the NAD c372(150wpc)is to warm and boomy, the hk3480 is more clean and polite with a deep bass and the rotel ra1070 is a hi end unit:strong, very punchy, very ditail amp. just great.
dont give my lsi9!!! and it is final!! -
thanks guys for all the reviews, i missed a couple days work last week so they will have to wait until next payday. i am going to get them for sure, its just going to take a little longer than i had hoped. ill keep you posted.

hi. my name is meir and iam from israel.i had alot of
speakers during the years(42 years old:D)and i must say that the polkaudio lsi9 hi end speaker with his great 'vifa' rediator-ring tweeter is an amazing speaker even in a terms of f.standing speakers.
the bass of the lsi9 keep the listener wondering were the subwoofer is,but as ametter a fact there is no sub at all.i must say that not all of you must to agree with my opinion.but belive me, i now what iam saying. i dont like subwoofers at all.i like the real sound of the speaker itself. a good speaker must deliver a fine deep bass from is own(sorry about my bad english:()without any help from a sub. this is why i saying that the polk lsi9 is a great speaker,he can do it all amazingly.speakers that i own now(jbl lx60.polk rti6,polk rti a7)and many more brands that i owned over the years(infinity.bnw 602 s3.jamo,yamafa ns,cerwin vega, bose, klipch and more)dont get even close to the clear, clean deep sound of the heavy lsi9.
all you have to do is to go to the polk dealer and listen the lsi9.you wont be disapointed att all.
thank you all.
