Hello
My wife has been having some problems uploading pictures to certain websites, a blog site, her Stamping up demonstrator site, and a couple of others. I've run into the problem if I do some speed tests also.
What happens is when the upload starts be it with a picture or when it gets to the upload part of the speed test, it will kill our Internet connection. We have a "wireless dsl" connection off a cell tower about 9 miles away. I also have a Belkin pre-n router. In order to get back online again we have to restart the router then everything is fine again.
Its weird that it only does it on certain sites, I can upload pics just fine on here.... Also weird that the upload speed test kills it too....
Any ideas?

First off how big are the pictures you are trying to upload. Also how many signal bars do you have on your connection. What I think is happening is when you are using internet to "surf" of download. You are sending about a small request to the tower to the server to retrieve the data you want. Simple because the wireless card only has to send out a small "packet". But its different when you want to upload your packets that are being sent out are massive as apposed to a request to a site. What I think is happening is that the "packets" are not being received by the tower.HT setup

The towers packet scheduler may see it, decide to wait for some bandwidth to free up, which would time you out. I don't know the software, but you can usually tweek the settings.
It's not my day gig, but I would swap out the router first to eliminate it, then try to tweek the software on your end.-Ignorance is strength - -
I ran into a similar problem. I was getting my connection was getting cut off. I did some asking around at school. I was told that some routers and wireless modems will interfere with each other. Long story short: my modem and and router were too close. I separated them by about 25 ft. Problem solved. I do not know if this applicable to your situation, but it is something to consider. SKs has a point. I believe in Windows somewhere it does give options on how to handle time outs. And I mean calling all cars, blackhawk down, mushroom cloud, Three Mile Island, lock the door behind you kind of mad.

It wouldn't be in windows itself it would be in the program the device uses to connect to the tower.HT setup

Hello
Thanks for the input, I should have given a little more info. I don't have a wireless card in the computer for the connection. Theres a Yagi directional antennae on the roof which has a coax running down into the "radio box" outside. That what the ISP calls it anyway. From the radio box theres cat 5 running into a little "power amplifier" thats plugged into the UPS. Thats what their calling that I think. Anyway then theres cat 5 running from that into my network card so there isn't any program or software controlling the connection to the tower.
It doesn't make any difference what size the pics are or the size of the upload speed test, as soon as the upload starts the connection is killed.....
I'll look around for something in the network card settings or router settings too again, but am not seeing much in the router to change.
Sorry I didn't get back sooner, the tower got hit by lightning last night....Testing
