i have pioneer 1600 HU, cd player, not good
i have db650 up front, good

im thinking of upgrading to Alpine 9884 or 6, mainly for USB.
this will cost me close to 300$

for that money, i can get MOMO components, and probly a dynamat door kit.

i think MOMOs will make a bigger differance, but im leaning towards new HU, cuz i know thats a limiting factor in my system at the moment

your toughts?

I would upgrade the HU Alpines have a better amp internally. They just make speakers sound better as well.

Get new speakers. Speakers are the most important part of your system and if youre only going to upgrade one thing - they should be it. Great speakers with an entry level head unit will sound better than a fancy head unit with entry level speakers.

The bigger JL would give you more output due to the bigger sub. Other than that, theyre about even in terms of SQ.

If you're not going to go active then speakers and forget dynamat door kit(Costly). I recommend using raamaudio. Great prices and Rick will help you with any questions you have. Customer service is the best, he gave me all kinds of extra stuff because he sent my item two days late due to computers being down.

Here's another recommendation for RAAMmat. I bought the original RAAMmat from Rick around five years ago and his customer service was top-notch. If I ever need more damping material(and ensolite) I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again...a great guy selling a great product.

You might be surprised. That company is owned by one dude who is a regular guy and not some corporate big wig. So in other words, he puts food on his table by selling his gear and although I could be wrong, I dont see why he wouldnt run down to his local UPS store to make a sale if he's got your address and youre paying for shipping. Its worth a try.

I don't think Rick will turn you down. Feel free to send him an email telling him what you're looking to purchase and where you're located. He'll obviously charge more for shipping but he'll let you know either way.

I did all of my ordering through email.
