Batman Begins Audio Question.

After seeing the Dark Knight yesterday and hearing what I guess you would call the growl and bass in Batman's voice I came home and started playing with my copy of Batman Begins on HD-DVD with the lossless TrueHD track on my setup, now this maybe where I 'm confused, but I seem to remember when I saw BB in the theater that there where several scenes with the same growl and bass in Batman's voice as in DK. I've tried every different x-over setting I could think of to try and get the same results that I heard in the theater but with no luck, Now since a TrueHD track is supposedly identical to the studio master the bass and growl should be there, and like said earlier this maybe where I'm confused. My question is have any of you been able to reproduce the growl and bass in Batman's voice in your setup? If so what are your X-over settings and how hot are you running your sub, I can't help to think that I am missing something, help a brother out.

like I said in the OP I might not have my facts straight but if I remember correctly it's pretty much every time Batman speaks, not Bruce Wayne though, especially when he is talking to bad guys, even when he whispered you could feel the bass in his voice at the theater.

So I just had a look/listen to Batman Begins on SD DVD, and, yes, the growl is definitely there. Was looking at chapters 27-28 when he rescues his sister.

In scene 6 I heard a robin eating a small snake off screen. It was about a half a mile away. You mean, your system didn't pick that up?

I'd describe it as more of a "deeper hue" to his voice. When Bruce Wayne is Batman, his voice has a different, deeper (growl) to it as compared to his normal Bruce Wayne voice. Perhaps it's Batman's wayof hiding his identity in this movie. It's certainly noticable.

Millerman,
Not sure what player you have, or how you are decoding, but some of early players, both bluray and hd-dvd, suffer from the lfe bug. If you are running analogs or hdmi>pcm mode, this may be why his voice doesn't have the low sound you are used to. You could hook up an optical or coaxial to your receiver from the player, and just do DD and see if that makes a difference in his voice.

Hmmm, I've got the Batman Begins HD DVD, too and I can hear the raspiness/growl you're talking about. Now, it's not as pronounced as in Dark Night, though.

Thank you, thats what I've been hoping it was, like I said in the OP I may not be remembering BB correctly, it has been 3 years since I saw it at the theater. I've tried all of the scenes that a couple of you have mentioned, and maybe I should have been alittle clearer on this, I do get bass and I can hear the growl, that some of you seem to have gotten a kick of , but its not nearly as ND13 said ''pronounced'' as in TDK.

After watching BK in theaters I went home and rewatched BB with my new setup (in my sig). The growl noise from his voice when talking to bad guys was very apparent. I have all my speakers set to large and the crossover set at 100. I think the 6.5" woofers of the CS2 paired with a pretty solid Velodyne sub make the noise possible. I think my gear is just good enough to reproduce the noise, anything less couldn't handle it.

Room acoustics might make the sound difficult to reproduce and having voice matched speakers in the front could be paramount.

My favorite growl moment is when he grabs the detective by the hair in the alley.

"Where were the other drugs going?"
"I never knew, I don't know, I swear to god"
"SWEAR TO ME!"

Try setting that x-over to 60-80 and see how it sounds.
