It's been a rough year

Well it's been 1 year since I packed up my life and moved to North Carolina. While I love it down here much more then NJ it has definitly been on heck of a rough year.

It started out with me living in a hotel for the first two months while I looked for an apartment. That had to be the worst bed I ever slept in. I finally found a nice apartment and moved in september.

Shortly after I moved I think that I started to suffer form some depression. It was hard being in a new area away from all of my friends and family. I was workign through it pretty good though. I found a bar poker league and played about 4 nights a week so I met some new people. I also started spending more money then I had and dug myself into a pretty deep hole.

Shortly after I moved I found out that my mom had bladder cancer. My parents were down in florida and went to a dr who told her that they might have to remove her bladder. I think this made the depression even worse as the thought of loosing my mom was quite possible. They started he on this treatment where instead of chemo they inject her with TB and its supposede to kill the cancer cells. It would make her sick but not nearly as bad as the chemo.

To start payng the bills I sold all of my gear except the tv. While it was a temp fix that paid the rent i was still deep in the hole if not deeper. Then a month later the tv took a crap and it was not worth fixing it.

I decided that it was time to get another job and get myself out of the hole. I was thinking of what I could do to make some quck money and figured waiting tables would be good as I can make tips every night. That was a bad idea. My bad back that I have got 10 times worse with that job. Being on my feet for hours every night holding the heavy trays of food made me misrable. I limped out of the resturaunt every night and the tips were not as what I expected. So I changed jobs and started delivering pizza. Much easier job and good tips for the area.

Well fast foward to last week and things are finally on the upswing. I paid off a good chunk of my debt and plan to be pretty much caught up within 2 to 3 months. My mom had a test and she is now cancer free. She will be on meds for the rest of her life but its great news that the treatment worked. Hopefully this next year will be a much better year and by PF I can start rebuilding my system and getting back into the world of audio again.

Thanks for letting me rant and getting this off my chest. So many people here have been a great support for me and I appreciate it so much.

Dave

Sorry to hear about your trouble's this past year (its been a doozy for me also), but im glad to hear your mom is doing better.

Just keep your nose to the grind and your eyes on the prize, everything usually works itself out in the end.

I'm not familiar with Morrisville, but if its anywhere close to Raleigh I have a bit of audio gear I could let you use so you have some tunes til you can recoup. Lemme know what ya think.

    Good Luck

Man, I feel for ya. I just went thru the worst year and a half of my life, too. I turned to a higher power, which has made a huge difference. I'll say a prayer for ya and the family.

Glad things are turning around for ya.

And please feel free to take me up on my offer, my wife would really love the closet space. I have everything other than an extra preamp, but finding one shouldnt be too hard.

Great news Dave, but I agree, 2008 has been a **** so far. I almost lost my father, then my mother--they're both ok now; My wife lost her brother in his private plane crash. We lost 2 very good people at work...**** cancer. Lost another friend at work--motorcycle accident.

We're looking forward to '09, with open arms...

I'm a silver lining kind of guy so I'm confident things will get better. At least alot of things that could have been worse--were not, and that's good news. 2007 was just so "mellow" for us...

I don't think this has been a good year for too many people, but congratulations to you for being able to rise above. That takes a lot. I'm working in commercial real estate and right now there are so many people that are down in the dumps. It feels good to hear a success story. Thanks for sharing. Good luck on the upswing!
