RTi12s (Refinishing any Polk Speakers)

Hey everyone. So here's the deal. I bought some RTi10s about a month ago from a guy. One has some minor scuffs on the top, but I can live with it.
So anyway, this guy has a pair of RTi12s, $100 for the pair. Only problem, one is black and one is cherry, and the veneers are pretty banged up. So here's the question: how difficult would it be to resurface the veneers/ would it be worth it to do so? $100 is a wonderful price, but I'm wondering if it'd cost some odd hundred dollars to "fix" the cosmetic blemishes on them, might not be worth it.
Please advise Polk Gurus and other Polk people!
EDIT: I realize this may go better under the DIY section, but this is a higher traffic area, and I need advice quick!

Thanks for the heads up; I'm amazed at how expensive veneer is. I have an uncle who is a very skilled wood worker; I might enlist his assistance. Do you have any recommendations on which veneer to use / places to get it?
I also notice (on my RTi8s, which are black) that the black speakers have a much grainier feel. Would it be better to take off the grain on both, since I doubt the cherry will ever have the same deep grain?
EDIT: Does anyone know how think the veneer on the RTi12s actually is? -
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

Cool; another question: Does anyone know if the measurements given at:
http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/specs/individual/floorstanding/rti12/
Include the feet and pedestal. The length 50 1/8 inches translates into 4.117 feet; which would suck, considering most veneers are in 2x2, 2x8 or 4x8 sections. If the actual cabinet is <4ft (48 inches), I could use one sheet of 2 x 8 for both sides of the speaker cabinet.
Thanks. -
As long as the speaker are not busted I would go for them....then as others say you can re-do them.... I would sand them down BOTH, then weh you redo them they would look the same. Also remember, they all look the same in the dark! Its the sound you need.Retired Onkyo 520 (returned broken HK 247)

For $100 I would have them even if they were pink and yellow._________________________________________________

Luckily they're not that crazy looking; guy bailed on me, so I remain RTi12-less for a while. -
