fun challenge: help design my Polk upgrade
Hey all,
I've been very happy with my RM6700's and a PSW 404 sub for many years. But now it's time for me to think about an upgrade. My amp (not planning to replace) is a Onkyo SR606, 90 watts/channel@8 ohms, 140 watts @6 ohms so I would like some efficient speakers.
My plan is to do the front and maybe center first. I am thinking about maybe monitor 60's / CS2 (can get very cheap) or else the CSi3 and RTi8s (still kinda economical) or 10s if I can find them cheap enough.
But I also saw some RTi A5's refurbed from the polk store for $500 + shipping.
I would like something with a nice crisp sound, the RMs are starting to sound a little muddy for my tastes. But I also want something that can balance with my RMs until I can replace them with nicer speakers.
I was thinking of spending in the ballpark of $600 right now. I also want something that wont cost me another fortune to get voice matched surrounds.
Can anyone help explain to me the differences in power and sound character between these systems and what would YOU do with my money?
thanks,
Eric

Pick up some SDA 1b or 1c's. Pair them with a pair of monitor 5's (or 5jrs) for rears and you will have a really nice setup for not alot of dough...Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)
