OK Guys,
In my new place the HT set up will be in an open area meaning there will be no side walls to place my surrounds. I will have to place them on stands to either side of the listening area. I was looking at the Mirage Omnisat V2 because I like the multidirectional idea since they will be at either end of the sofa. I would like some diffusion.
Do you think that would work with my Von Schweikert front stage ok?

    Omnisat

If this is strictly for an HT application I pretty much think any speaker will work for the surrounds (I like the omnidirectional design myself). Now if you play a lot of multi channel music then you might run into a problem. Then again, maybe not. Crutchfieldd has a great 30 day return policy, give 'em a shot, & if you like them...great, if not send them back & try something else.

Go back to 2-channel. That's the real deal. Screw HT.......

I did a bit of research on them a while back, listened to them a couple times to.

My experience mirrored the reviews. They sounded quite good, much bigger then they were and really cast a large soundfield. For imprecise sound like a crowd roaring they worked well, but imaging was poor so for precise sounds things fell apart. Any sound effects that fly over or travel around the room just don't sound right with them.

For example the scene in Gladiator when the guy is swinging the ball+chain. With normal speakers you can hear it go from L->C->R->SR->SL->L...so on and so forth traveling completly around the room. With the omnisats the sound would break up, it would sound more like it was traveling above you and you couldn't pinpoint where it was at any moment, it would travel from the front to right to back to left to front again, but it just didn't sound right.

Read some reviews and go check them out at your closest Magnolia to see what I am talking about.

I checked them out today at Magnolia but they didn't have a full set up. They just had them as fronts so it was hard to tell. They do seem built very well.
