Well not exactly - I just paid my dad $350 and he went out to buy it :)

Anyways, since my friends seem to play XBOX all the time, I decided to get one today.

One thing I noticed is that if you use an HDMI cable, the A/V cable cannot be plugged into the unit at the same time. This prevents the use of the optical port AND the HDMI port at the same time. Is there any way around this? Keep in mind I have a 50' HDMI to the projector but I also want to run the optical out to the Onkyo.

My Xbox360 came with cables to allow this out of the box. There is a cable that only has audio (left + right RCA and one optical). Use that with the HDMI, I'm not sure if this only works on elite models or not though.

Mine came with a component video cable. It does not have an "audio only" cable.

Now that I think of it though, I can just use the component cable and run a 50' RCA audio cable to the projector (XBOX --> projector --> Onkyo).

yea if you buy microsoft hdmi cable it comes with a adapter if you want to use optical or rca. you can get the kit off ebay for 35 or go to best buy and buy it for 50.

I understand that. But the fact that they made the Y/Pb/Pr (component) A/V cable block the HDMI port is almost like them forcing you to purchase the HDMI "kit" that comes with the adapter for optical and RCA.

    Oh well...

    Now the *real* question is...

What games would you guys recommend me to buy? I'm mostly a non-gamer so I'm interested in basic stuff like Tetris, Pac-Man, etc. I was looking at the live arcade unplugged disc, and it seems like the arcade games are something that I'd enjoy.

BTW, I mainly bought the 360 for its Media Center capabilities.

Most of us on the forum play Call of Duty 4, weekly. I know you can catch Grim or myself on allot, with the rest of guys falling in on the weekends, time permitting. Theres too many to list, definitely check out Rock Band also.

They've dropped the 360 Pro(20 gb) to $299 in my area, too.

I know, I'm just not into games like Call of Duty that much. I want something simple like Tetris or a racing game, that I can pick up and play for 15 minutes and have fun while doing it.

Like stated before, my main use of the 360 is as a Media Center...because Microsoft doesn't really make money on the console; they make money on the games/accessories. So for $300 as a media center extender it's a good deal :)

appadav: Not sure what kinds of friends you have but my friends would be remove me from their 'friend's list' if they caught me playing tetris online too often :D I too picked up a Xbox 360 due to friendly peer pressure; falling prey to the Halo and COD4 hype machine.

I find the Wii more suitable for the pick up and play for 15 minute thing ... as the casual games seem more inline with that idea. Xbox games snag me for a couple of hours.

Appdave get on Xbox Live Arcade, and you will find all the games you need. Me personally I enjoy UNO and Geometry Wars the best.

But they got Defender, PacMan, etc...and they are all cheap. I think anywhere from 5-10 dollars a game.

What's so bad about Tetris? I've literally had friends borrow my laptop on the train to play on the 3 hour ride to work...

Most of us like Guitar Hero and we all have Wii Sports.

And geez - I've seen people playing Tetris on their TI-83 calculators in class!!

I don't really *dislike* COD4 or Halo, it's basically that I don't have 2+ hours to play so I like the basic stuff.

Racing games - I'd like to pick up a copy of Forza 2, and maybe one of the GT's?

If you are interested in racing, I would suggest Grid and DiRT. PGR4 is also fun.

Will do. Right now I've already had lots of fun with the 360 and I'll plan on picking up more games in a week or so.

But for now...I'm interested in vinyl and I'm looking at turntables ;)
