    OK...so let me ask this question. No HDMI connections on the Pre/pro. I'm asuming that I would go from my DVD directly to the TV for video, then use digital or optical for the sound to the Pre/pro? Or 5.1 in from the DVD if I have it? Can I asign the optical or digital in to be used with the DVD? Ok I know I sound stupid but I have to ask these questions. I wanted one of these when I started looking for a new Pre/pro for my second HT set-up. I'm torn between this model, an Onkyo 805 or possibly an Integra 9.8

    Help me out here guys. Oh yeah, and by not using the HDMI on the Pre/pro will I be able to have the unit switch to the apropriate codecs automatically? Or will I have to manually select DTS, Dolby 5.1 and so on?

    I am using your 1st option. HDMI to TV directly and Optical to Pre. You can also use 5.1 analog In (7.1 there) for lossless sound from HD or Blu-ray.IMO. Most Pre/Pro can assign digital or optical I think.

    You have to choose the audio option on DVD player to play DTS mode. Mine detect automatically.
