The Big Picture (aka "Kellyn Kissing Mom")

Well, sometimes life can get a little tough. Until you realize some folks may have it tougher.

Last fall jflail2 had posted a kharma that mentioned his younger sister's best friend, Keri (29), who happened to have ALS. She wasn't doing too well at the time. Kind of sucked, especially considering she had a very young daughter.

Checking my email today, I saw an email from her parents that mentioned she had died, back in January. :(

The website that her parents created for her has been kept up as a memorial of sorts. It has a tribute to Keri by her friend, Gwen Sellers.

"Her last year on this earth was definitely a hard one. In some ways it was a beautiful one too. I saw her accept the fact that she was not going to be here to see Kellyn grow up or even take her first steps. I saw her find the good in that and take charge even then. When Kellyn crawled early she said she did it so Mommy could see. She found Kellyn’s first tooth when she was sucking on her finger. She made jokes like she was going to be Darth Vader for Halloween; she said she already had the mask. She made tapes so Kellyn could hear her voice. She had me buy birthday cards to give her every year and told me what to write in them. "

So, if life gets a little tough, remember: it could be tougher, which means you have it easier than someone else.

And if Keri could find good in her situation, than I'd have to say that yes, indeed, it is true: It's all good ..... if you let it.

Life is good. Plug and chug.

What incredible dignity and courage. A Mom that baby (and her father) can be proud of. God Bless.

    Kinda re-prioritizes everything, doesn't it?

Wow, thanks for mentioning that MBB. Brought tears to my eyes. I'll have to send this link to my sister (the one with the violin and the silly look on the pictures page.) She lost a great friend and a great person; I'm glad her determination and courage lives on...

Kellyn looks exactly like my granddaughter; she's 8 months old.

She also likes to steal Der Gramper's watch like her older brother.
He's hidden my GD Ironman watch and won't tell me where it is.

And life is good. Even without my GD Ironman watch. :)

How people handle the tragedy in life speaks volumes about their character.

Keri obviously was a great young woman. God bless her daughter, her family and her friends.

    So sad.
I don't know what to say. Yep, some people pull it together when everything is coming apart. We all have it good when you look at what could be.
