I will be doing a separate 2 ch setup for my Rega P7. Rotel RC-1070, RB-1070 pre and amp. I need to add speakers. Torn between monitors and floorstanders. I prefer to forgo a sub at this time. I am thinking the LSi9 will be a good choice. How is the bass response on these? The music will not be played at insane volumes - this setup will be used for more critical low-level listening. What is a good price for 'new' LSi9s? And, can you recommend a good quality stand to use with them? Other speakers I have been eyeing have been B&W, Vienna Acoustics, and Totems.

LSi9s are good speakers, but only have the bass response and output of a bookshelf style speaker. I don't mind listening to bookshelf speakers without subs, but a lot of people do. You could jump up to the LSi15 and increase the bass response quiet a bit if you have room for the floorstand.

    It depends on the room.

In a small room, you may be able to get by with 9's and no sub.
