Guys and Ladies I am seeking wisdom and knowledge.I have a Yamaha Z9 receiver and an HP pc. Is it possible to connect the two so that i can listen to down loaded music or watch movies that are on my hard drive through my home theatre? What cabling would I use neither have an HDMI connection?

You have to find inputs/outputs that are in common. Your sound card will have some type of output, most have analog 3.5mm stereo and some have digital outs too. Your video card may have DVI, which could be converted to HDMI. Do some research either online or in documentation to determine your options.

If your PC has a 3.5mm jack, you can use a 3.5mm to RCA adapter. But if you have an optical out on the HP PC, you can run an optical cable between the PC and the receiver.
My HP z560 Digital Entertainment Center has an optical, coax, and analog out. If your HP was made within the last few years, it should have some kind of digital out - that would be your best choice.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves
