Making SDA interconnects

There was a time you could get Jones plugs from radio Shack (274-201). I think they are all gone except leftovers at some stores. I did a search and found Allied still has them for $4.66 each. For those with the blade/pin type connector I got a great hint from Ken S of Polk. He said to take the "pin" out of an RCA male (use a good one) and remove and drill out the connector body of a standard Jones and push in the RCA"pin" in its place. Works well for me.

Yup, those are the good Cinch connectors for the blade-blades.

I made my custom Pin-Blade by soldering on a pin that I found to be the right diameter, and cutting a flat, male quick connect until it fit for the blade. I attached them to speaker wire, so they are loose instead of a single plug, but it works very well. Maybe I'll take a picture of mine if I get the chance, or become less lazy...

All I did was use military 3 pin cannon plugs (2 large & 1 small pins) and used the same wire that I have hooked up to the speakers. That way you will have the proper balance between speakers as the cable is the same for both. The other added bonus of using cannon plugs is that the plug can only be put in one way, the connection is sealed and that the plug can't be pulled out, things which normal speaker binding posts can't provide - at least not all of these benefits.

It looks like that cannon plug would mean having to keep the speakers about 4 or 5 inches off the back wall wouldn't it? I thought most SDA's liked to be closer up to the wall than farther out from it. I just used right angle XLR connections for the IC like Raife did on his and was shown in the Compendium. It keeps them within a couple inches from the wall at worst.

Too much bass boom for me, 6- 12 inches seems to be the best for me. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
